WE go from a less than manic Monday to an action-packed Tuesday with the Champions League ties the highlights.
There are potentially two crackers tonight and I’ve posted a separate preview on Arsenal v Barcelona and Juventus v Bayern Munich as well as an English Championship round-up.
Last night I called the Shrewsbury v Man United game correctly but didn’t post the Super Single I recommended in the Daily Record which was United -1 at 21-20.
I did put them on the Top Treble with both to score at Napoli and Burton not to lose. At 1-1 in the second and the other two bets safe I was going to advise cover but Southend beat me to it by scoring a second goal so it was 1pt lost.
There is so much more to choose from tonight with the two CL ties, virtually a full English Championship programme and plenty of lower-league matches.
In Scotland we have Dundee v Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup and Partick Thistle v St Johnstone in the Premiership as well as matches in League One and Two.
Dundee were held 0-0 by Championship Dumbarton but blamed a mudheap of a pitch and the surface will be better tonight after a few dry days.
The Dens men face a side who have netted just once in four games and who are struggling for fit strikers. Dee on the other hand have a superb attacking trio of Kane Hemmings, Greg Stewart and Rory Loy.
I can see them winning to nil at 21-20 with McBookie and bet365 and I wouldn’t put anyone off hotshot Hemmings at 10-3 with William Hill to score first.
However, for a Super Single I’m on Dundee -2 Asian Handicap at 11-8 with bet365 which is a safer option then the Dundee -2 I’ve put in today’s Record at 2-1 with McBookie.
I’ve studied the card for a few hours this morning and it’s not an easy one. For the Top Treble I’m taking Preston, who have moved into play-off contention with three wins in a row, at home to a Charlton side who look doomed and who are now below Bolton on goal difference at the bottom of the Championship.
Next I’m on Burnley who are a decent price at home to Nottingham Forest. I accept Forest are tough to beat but they have a poor record at Turf Moor and I’m on the side unbeaten in nine.
Complete the treble with League Two leaders Northampton at York. Jackie McNamara’s York have improved enough to climb off the foot of the table but shouldn’t trouble a side that’s racked up 10 wins in a row. Northampton have lost skipper and top scorer Marc Richards for at least four weeks but have moved quickly to sign Millwall striker John Marquis on loan for the remainder of the season.
Anyone considering Accrington at home to Notts County should be aware they have an injury crisis with key men definitely out.
My both to score treble is taken after looking recent form and stats. And I wouldn’t put anyone considering both to score at Arsenal and Juventus.
